Tot Bot Designed by W&W Intern Oriana Foster

As part of our outreach program, Wonder & Wise partnered with Webster Groves High School’s Chelsea Experiential Learning Center in St. Louis, Missouri to offer students internships to gain first-hand knowledge of the workplace.

Oriana Foster, a junior at WGHS, worked with our design team to create our wonderful Tot Bot, while gaining experience with the design process and a new perspective on the industry.

About her internship experience, Oriana said, “The design work I did really put a lot of my art skills into practice. I learned a lot about myself, and my own strengths and weaknesses as an artist. I had a lot of fun working on this, working with other people, and ultimately creating a product I was proud of.”
Oriana spent 8 weeks researching our customer base, learning our company aesthetic and submitting rounds of sketches until a final design was approved. From there, Oriana learned how to produce technical specs for our factory which ultimately resulted in the Tot Bot.

Zhao Fujian, owner of Wonder & Wise, said “Giving back to our communities is important to our company, and helping children grow and develop is an essential part of what we do. The purpose of Wonder & Wise is to spark curiosity, joy and wellness whether that’s through toys or an intership that provides a valuable learning experience.”

I am the current Design Manager at Asweets but started my career over 15 years ago with The Land of Nod creating bedding, rugs, lighting, accessories and then exclusively toys. My joy is surfing Instagram to see actual kids & families (even dogs) playing with toys I designed.
